My wonderful day

Saturday was my 24th birthday and I wanted to have the best day ever, so what did I do?  I went to Disneyland!!  You go for free on your birthday and since I don't have a season pass this was great news.  I was able to get my 2 roommates from college to go with me which was the best thing ever because we can be nerds together and not even care what anyone else is thinking.  The whole day we were quoting from Charlie the Unicorn it was so fun.
I haven't been to disneyland in such a long time it was so much fun.  At one point we were the next in line for Pirates of the Caribbean and they had to shut it down for a little while, luckily Allana brought face cards so we were able to pass the time playing egyptian war.  It was really fun.  Allana also brought MadLibs to do while waiting in line.  Pretty sure I caught other people looking at us in envy because we were having fun when they were just standing there!  HAHA!

Don't call me baby!

I'm hoping some late night inspiration will come out in this post so its as entertaining as it was in real life.

As you know, or should know, I'm living in southern Orange County now and I'm having an awesome time making friends and immersing myself in ward activities.  Well, we have a powder puff game coming up (and for those of you who don't know, this is basically girl's flag football) and we've started practicing.  Last time I was practicing for powder puff I was throwing a ball around with the guy I was dating at the time and it was dark out.  Well, one wrong catch and my middle finger on my left hand was dislocated, it was so gross to look at so I held on to it and wouldn't let anyone touch it until we got to the hospital.  The doctor set it back, yada yada, I was on drugs which was really fun for the guy with me, yada yada..... Anyway... I was throwing around a football again and I was naive enough to not tape my fingers.  I'm going to assume that you can all figure out what happened.  Yep!  I dislocated the same finger!!  Well, since I have no cute guy to take me to the hospital these days I decided to woman up and pop the finger back into joint.  Yep, that's what I did.  I had to give myself a few minutes then I was back on the field running drills and even made a touch down when we scrimmaged.

Yes, now its all swollen and bruised and I'll probably have the ugliest picture of my ring hand whenever that big day comes but I'm feeling awesome because I can say I popped it back in and kept playing.  So next time you think of calling me a baby it better be for good reason!

DMV

My license is due to expire on my 24th birthday next month (April 18th) and rather than sending in a renewal I decided to go to the DMV and do it myself.  This wasn't so I could torture myself waiting in line and dealing with really unexcited people in the process, I promise.  I've had the same picture on my license since they took a picture when I was 16.  I figured since I lost my baby cheeks and matured a bit in 8 years (novel idea, I know) then I should update my picture.

The wait wasn't too long, only about 15 minutes after I got my number.  Its really fun people watching.  Especially at the DMV.  I think thats one of the most awkward places to talk to people, besides an elevator... don't even get me started about that.

When I was waiting I was thinking about the picture, do I smile or do I try to do the tough person face that guys think is so cool?  Or do I try to be like Tyra Banks and give it my fiercest pose so maybe someone will book me off my picture... right.  Well, I decided to smile, I know, SHOCKER!   So when I walked up to get my picture taken I was thinking what kind of smile I wanted to do.  Hmmm.... try to be as natural as possible.  Then the guy started counting to 3 and I totally wasn't ready!  By the time he got to three my mouth was smiling but the rest of my face wasn't.   I'm pretty sure my eyes had a mix of fear and surprise and my eyebrows had a bit of worry on them.

I'm pretty excited to see how bad this picture will really be.   I'm pretty sure it will look something like this:

Hollister, CA

Unfortunate circumstances fortunately brought me back home to Hollister for a weekend. I had a small chip in my tooth and had to have my daddy fix it. It only took about an hour but I got to spend a whole weekend at home with my wonderful family.
This time of year is the most beautiful time of year to be in Hollister. Everything is so bright and green and awe-mazing. After my mom and I came home from a relief society meeting in Mo Hill and then did some quick shopping at the outlets I took my dad's camera out and went on a countryside drive. It was so relaxing and wonderful. You really can see God's work in every beautiful thing, that really can't happen on its own.

Just being outside and listening to the birds and watching the squirrels try to get run over by me made me realize what a gem Hollister really is. Even though I may have ached and complained growing up about being in such a small town, I really appreciate the beauty of the rolling hills and the colors of nature.

So here are a few pictures of the Hollister I love.

I was born and raised here, this place is my home and holds a huge place in my heart.

And after all that I got to go home...

My blog-worthy experience

So yesterday was quite a day and after telling Kirstin, my sister, about it she said it was definitely blog worthy. So she helped me set up the blog when I was at work, and here is my first post!

My day didn’t start out too well actually. I could feel while I was sleeping that my stomach wasn’t feeling well and when I woke up to read scriptures I thought maybe it would feel better if I just moved around a little bit. Boy was I wrong! I was in bed the rest of the day sleeping, reading, or watching videos on my computer (I would watch it on the tv but that’s broken… any donations welcome… just kidding :) ). Anytime I would move around it would just make things worse. So my diet yesterday was Ritz crackers and chicken noodle soup. Yum.

Around 7:30pm Logan came over to take care of me, he does it so well. He was able to coerce more food into me to give me strength. After some groaning on my part I was able to choke down some eggs. During this time he was getting texts from his brother to meet up with him at the Newport Beach temple. His brother was there with their parents and a couple he baptized on his mission, from Wyoming. We got to the temple, walked around, took pictures, enjoyed the scenery. Then since the friends wanted to see the ocean we went down to the coast and checked out the ocean and some really nice ocean view properties. This is when the story gets interesting.

We were driving this old VW bus that is actually pretty sweet looking and in good condition, it fit all of us so we left Logan’s car at the temple parking lot. So on the way back to get Logan’s car the bus runs out of gas! Logan’s dad is turning the wheel back and forth so the gas could move around and we could chug along as far as possible. They were able to pull into a gas station but when we got there they noticed that it was a full service station and it was closed. Ugh. So we all hopped back in, got as far as we could on fumes and then all the boys jumped out and pushed us ladies up Pacific Coast Highway to the next place. All the boys were panting and working hard, Logan’s mom was screaming “take pictures, take pictures!” and the boys were yelling “UGH! My legs are burning!” We got into the Chevron and the pumped we pulled up to didn’t work, so we had to roll the bus over to another one. We were able to fill up and so we headed back to the temple. This is not the end of the story…

We got to the temple and the gate to the parking lot was closed! I had my purse with my keys and phone in Logan’s car inside the parking lot and I needed them. So Logan had to jump the fence into the temple to retrieve my purse for me. He’s leaving on a mission in 3 months and he broke into temple grounds :) Finally things were settled, we were able to go back to his place and drop everyone else off then he took me home, walked me to my place, and went home. We all had some good sleep last night.

Sorry if that was a bit of a novel for you, but it was quite an adventure! Definitely noteworthy. I’ll try to get the pictures on here that I took of the boys pushing with Logan’s mom’s camera. At least they did it with a smile!

Update on the sickness: So I get to work today and apparently there were other people out from work yesterday too. It was brought to my attention that there was some outbreak and everyone that ate lunch that was catered in on Tuesday got sick. I might be interviewed by a bacteria specialist! That’s how bad it is…

Hope you all enjoyed my first post, glad to be a part of the blogging world now!
