April/May

Its been a whirlwind month which is why I haven't had time to come on here and update. Hopefully you have been able to go on facebook and look at some of the pictures other people have taken.

I'm anxious to see the photos that the photographer took. It was a bit of a rush getting ready and I ended up doing my own make up and my sister helped me out a lot with my hair. So it wasn't professionally done but we still got compliments. I forgot to wear earrings so Kirstin found my new aunt that had some small pearl earrings and asked if I could borrow them. It was perfect.

People kept asking me if my face was hurting from all the smiling, but I smile all the time so it didn't really affect me. I think the thing that affected me most was walking around in new shoes that I hadn't broken in yet (I know that isn't a smart thing to do so you don't have to tell me). They were awesome shoes though!

I'll post pictures once I get them. I'm not sure the timeline on when they will be completed but i'm so anxious!

ALERT We're changing the website address for our blog since David isn't exactly such a foxy freckly face like I am :)
It will now be http://verticallygiftedfosters.blogspot.com

Does anyone know how to change it but still have people who visit the current website address to be forwarded to the new one??

We're not homeless!

After weeks and weeks of apartment after apartment. Apartments too short, bedrooms to small, no dishwasher, crummy area, weird smells, creepy crawlies, and more short ceilings we found the apartment for us!

Let me tell you... it's an adventure finding an apartment that is tall enough when your future husband is 7'3. There are things you have to think about that the normal person would never consider. Like for instance, most people wouldn't notice this, but in most apartments the hallways are shorter than the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms; also the bathroom ceilings are lower than everything else too! Wouldn't you want a place where you can take a shower standing up? He already has to deal with shower heads being at his belly button.

I got pretty good at weeding through apartments pretty fast. I would first ask the room dimensions and whether it had a washer/dryer or dishwasher. I would prefer one or the other and especially both. Anything with less wasn't an option. Also, the room dimensions had to be big enough to fit a cal king and even that bed isn't long enough for him, but he's used to that. If those factors passed the initial test I would check out the place. Once I got in the room I would raise my arm to the ceiling, if my hand could lay flat or worse it definitely wasn't an option and I was out the door.

Finally we came upon our future home. There were 2 apartments available in the complex and we checked out apartment 2 first. It was nice, had lots of storage space but it had the typical problem: low hallway and bathroom ceiling. Then it was on to apartment 5. This one was on the top floor and once we walked in I could see David was sold. The ceilings were high enough even in the hallway and bathroom (maybe plumbing makes the ceilings lower there in bottom floor apartments?). That was his selling point. And for me it had a dishwasher and a somewhat new oven. We were kind of bummed that it didn't have as much storage space but later learned we even get our own storage room in the basement of the complex!

We put a deposit down fast on this baby, I didn't want David bending over more than he had to. Days went by that felt like weeks. Finally today around 8pm we get a call that the apartment is ours and we can pick up the keys tomorrow!

This is making the whole wedding thing even more real and awesome!

New Hair??

David has asked me a few times if I've ever wanted to go back to having short hair. He's seen pictures of me with short hair and he thinks its cute. So I'm thinking after all the wedding festivities are done I'm going to chop chop. I'm going to put a few pictures up of short hair. PLEASE tell me what you think. I already know which picture is my favorite, but you can give your 2 cents too!

David Foster

Today is David's 22nd birthday (he's a babe). I thought I would share some fun facts about him that aren't obvious.

One of his favorite songs is titled "Short People Got No Reason to Live" by the King Singers. It's a pretty funny song and video

His favorite candy is Butterfinger

He likes collecting shoes, Boston Red Sox hats, and belt buckles.

He always gets a 4x4 whenever we go to In-n-Out, sometimes 2 of them.

There are just a few fun facts you may not have known about the big guy.

We love him!!

Wedding Announcements

How many announcements did you order for your wedding?

Well, I found a great deal to have 500 announcements printed and ready for $250 including the temple inserts. Sounds perfect right? Guess what, we ran out and we still have like 30 more to send! So now I'm trying to figure out how many more we should order and whether or not we can order some extras. On top of that I keep thinking of people that are not on my address list but need an announcement. My mom has already sent out her first set of about 210 announcements and just asked me for 45 more. She had me send out some of my own which came out to about 50. David has his coaches and his mission buddies on top of Michigan and Orange county people. All this stuff really adds up!

Only 40 more days!

I need a miracle, lots of prayers, or just some straight out luck!

I don't regret for one second coming out to Utah to be with my sweetheart, but the time here has been nothing less than stressful on occasion. Basically anytime I get in my car. This thing... it was so good to me about 4 years ago when I first got it, but for the last 2 years it just gives me grief!

I swear this car has a mind of its own and its punishing me for bringing it out into the cold. Its newest trick: it will rev on its own when its in park and the engine is still running!

I just say the car has a lot of personality. Here are some other things that make it really interesting to drive:
The child locks are broken for the back doors so they can only be opened from the outside
The automatic seat adjustment broke... on David's setting... so right now i'm currently driving with a pillow behind my back so I can reach the pedals
The wiper fluid doesn't work so I always carry a water bottle just in case. I have to open up the sunroof and poor water on the windshield then use the wipers to clean.
Pop the trunk doesn't work
I can predict when the heat will come on by the thermostat for the engine
The passenger side door squeaks like its going to fall off
There is no hydraulics or prop for the hood of the car so I carry around a wooden stick to hold it up
The gas light likes to come on and off a lot so I never know exactly when i'm going to run out of gas

I think that's pretty much it. Who thinks I need a new car??

I don't have money for one right now. I'm currently in a part time job which is really a blessing. Its paying for my bills (rent, school loans, car insurance, etc) and it allows me time to plan the wedding and work out (gotta stay hot for the wedding, right?). Plus it ends after tax season in April so I have May wide open to concentrate on the wedding and being married without having to worry about taking work off.

So here is where I need the help. David is really busy with basketball just about all year, but that counts as a blessing because his scholarship will cover our rent. However, we still have the bills that carry over from me (I didn't get a full ride-- school loans) and we will have to pay for car insurance, health insurance, food, etc. I need a job with benefits! I won't be available until about June 1st which is a bummer to try to look for jobs right now, but the stress is starting to build. I applied to 3 jobs today, each of which I would be ecstatic if I got.

Send us your good vibes, your prayers, any recommendations you have or ideas. I need to keep this big man fed, happy, strong, and motivated because he could very well put us in a more comfortable situation in the future, but right now the lot falls on me.

I want to be a good supportive wife when the marriage starts!

Any help would be so very much appreciated!

Milestone Day

Yesterday was a good day. It was the mark for 2 months exactly to the wedding. Its coming up! I also got the preview for our wedding announcements and I'm quite excited with how it turned out. I just hope everyone realizes the importance of our wedding website to get all the information that isn't included on the invitation.

Another amazing thing that happened yesterday, my wonderful, hardworking, game changing beau was named the Mountain West Conference defensive player of the year! It was between him and Emry at BYU. It was tough because Emry is an amazing ball stealer. I think it came down to more than just the numbers and stats. David is able to change games in ways that aren't shown on paper. Teams have to change their offense just because David is in the game. That is a huge deal! I'm so proud of my big man for all the hard work he puts in, he doesn't take anything for granted!

What a wonderful day!

Not only did I get my wedding shoes delivered this morning but I just got a call that my wedding dress is ready too! I wasn't expecting the dress for another 3 weeks or so.

Oh this is just a lovely day!

Now I just have to find a way to make the next 68 days pass by quickly

The little things that excite me

UPS delivered my wedding shoes today!!

I'm so excited to break in these babies. They're a whole 4.5" heel. Yep, i'm going to be over 6'5 on my wedding day. Don't worry, i'll put inserts in so my feet don't completely die on me. Crazy thing is, even being 6'5 there is still going to be a 10" difference between me and my sweetheart!

Oh the finer things in life... beautiful shoes...

I kind of feel like a little girl dressing up in her mom's shoes again, only these fit me :)

I'd put a picture up but that would ruin the surprise!

P.s. there are only 68 days left until the happiest day ever!!

Engagement Photos

There was exactly one weekend until the wedding that we had the opportunity to take engagement photos. My dad wanted to do them so we flew him out here last weekend. It was luckily David's bye week for games so we had a few hours on Saturday to take them.

David had food poisoning the Friday before so I was so worried that he was going to look sickly in his pictures. Luckily I was able to take care of him all day and make sure he ate food that was gentle on the stomach so he didn't lose too much weight. He was just fine on Saturday, he just wouldn't kiss me for safety's sake.

My dad did a great job and he bought a new camera just for the shoot. Any reason to get a new toy, right? Although he wasn't anticipating the new camera to be pretty significantly heavier than the previous one.

We went to 3 different sites, but after David and I weeded through the photos we liked it looks as though we could have stopped after the first location. Yep, we did that well! I'm only slightly kidding-- we just have that much chemistry I guess. :)

Here are a few of our favorites for your enjoyment (including the new main picture):

And of course we have to throw one in with some of our personality shining:

Not bad for free pictures taken by a dentist who does photography as a hobbie! My dad is so talented :)

Hope you like them as much as we do!

Happy Valentine's day <3

My man is A-mazing!!

Recently Deseret News and Mormon Times have both been interested in David both on and off the court. Lets face it, he's amazing at basketball and being a spiritual leader.

Here are the links to the articles for you to read at your leisure:
Deseret News

Mormon Times
This one actually mentions me, the just got their facts a bit off about me going to University of California San Diego

Its hard not to be impressed and proud of him, I really lucked out!
