With all the planning that comes with moving and finishing up things here in Orange County, I’ve been thrown some curveballs by the cunning one. My finances are in order, I have everything planned. This is not to mean that it’s going to be easy on my bank account, but I can handle it. I could always use just that little extra bit… but who couldn’t?
Last night and today I have been given 2 different opportunities to choose the right and be honest. Luckily every morning I choose to start my day off with scriptures and a prayer and put on the armor of righteousness. The armor I put on enables me to make quick and easy decisions.
Last night I went grocery shopping to buy a quick dinner and ingredients to make breakfast burritos (largely in part to a good friend driving me to the airport at 5 am this Friday… I’m repaying him with the burrito), I had picked up a pre-packaged one for dinner that night and put it in the kart and kept shopping. When I went to the car to load my groceries in my car I picked up my purse and there was the burrito… unpaid for. Easy decision… go back inside and pay for it. I was even thanked for being honest.
Today at work we were paid and I received my pay stub. One of my favorite things to do is check on my vacation hours. I noticed that I had 80 more than I was supposed to have. I think since I just had my year anniversary at work it automatically put in the 80 hours for the next year instead of having it accrue like company policy. I could have kept it on there and hoped that no one would notice; it would be a nice pay-out when I leave, but that wouldn’t be right. That would have covered all my moving expenses and the month’s rent that I am going to have to pay without a month’s income. I alerted my boss and he will be correcting it tomorrow with our accounting department. I’ll be back down to my normal amount.
I’m glad that these decisions came easily to me. I had asked some people at work if similar things had happened to them after their year anniversary and they said it hadn’t but that I shouldn’t have reported it because it wasn’t my mistake. Well, that’s not the kind of person I was raised to be and that’s not the kind of person I have chosen to be.
Bring it on, oh cunning one!! (but not too much, please)
I moved to Orange County. I can’t believe I’ve been here for a whole year already! There have been many blessings in my life since I’ve moved here. Let me list some wonderful things that have happened while I’ve been here:
Its been a wonderful year. I’ve gained so much perspective on life and what is important. I’m so excited to see what the next year has in store for me. Bring it on!!
I'm sure you can tell from the pictures, but I think i've snagged myself quite a man. He is so kind, thoughtful, silly, spiritual, fun, mature, athletic, TALL, loving, I could go on forever. It was really hard to come back home on Sunday without him but at least I knew that he would be coming back to Orange County with his family on August 7th so there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!
